Life in UK for International Students – IOE

 In News

You’re still undecided about studying in the United Kingdom? Perhaps you’re browsing here because you’ve decided but want to know exactly what your student life will be like in the UK. Your studies will be rigorous at any British university, but you will have plenty of free time to explore the sights, sounds, scents, and tastes of the United Kingdom. In any case, have a look and see what you may expect during your time in the UK.

Life in London

If you attend any of the following universities, you will have a normal student experience in London: University College London, Imperial College London, King’s College London, London School of Economics, Queen Mary, University of London, SOAS, Royal Holloway University of London, Brunel University, Goldsmiths, University of London, and City University London are among the institutions represented.

London student life is immensely diverse. Even if you are not studying in London, many experts recommend that you visit the city for at least a week or so while studying in the UK. Because London is “the big city,” there are always new and exciting things to see and do.

If you enjoy sightseeing, visit the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the London Eye, the Horse Guards Parade, and Buckingham Palace. Make a point of staying for the changing of the guard! There are also dozens of museums to visit. During the day, you can visit the Tate Modern, the British Film Institute, and the National Theatre.  Even if you’re an international student in London, take some time to be a tourist and see the sights.

Do you want to partake in the nightlife, as many students do? Then you should go to the “West End” of London, popularly known as “Theatreland.” This part of London has some of the top theatres (both live and movie). Tour the pubs, taverns, restaurants, and clubs by foot. London’s nightlife is vibrant and thrilling, so feel free to plunge right in if that’s your thing. Pubs are popular among many Londoners, and going to one on a regular basis allows you to meet a lot of nice people (they’re also recognized for having fantastic food)

If you happen to be in London during the month of August, you may be able to attend one of the world’s largest street parties. Notting Hill Carnival in London celebrates Caribbean culture and excitement. The music is loud and energetic, the energy is strong, and the cuisine is delicious. Every year, about one million people attend, and many people go numerous times in their lifetime. It is unquestionably worthwhile to visit at least once during your university time.

Life in Oxford and Cambridge

Did you know that if you attend Oxford or Cambridge, you are attending one of the oldest (and most well-known) universities in the United Kingdom? Then you might be interested to know that they also have one of the oldest activities known to the UK: punting.

Punting is a type of sailing. You utilize a flat-bottomed boat (known as a “punt”) that you propel with a large pole that you push along the river’s bottom. Punt tours on the Cherwell, Isis, and Cam Rivers are available. You can visit some of the historic bridges, bike through the countryside, have a picnic, or even compete in a punt race. If you opt to learn how to punt, you will have a lot of fun, and many of the universities in this area will rent you punts.

Oxford and Cambridge are historic cities. Even though there is some sign of nightlife, the majority of what you will encounter in nature is quaint and calm. You may go watch live theatre; there are several shopping opportunities; and there are numerous pubs where you can enjoy a pint and some nice food. In general, student life in Oxford and Cambridge is very serene and quiet, which is ideal for the hard studying that you will accomplish at either of the region’s major universities.

As you can see, student life in the UK can vary greatly from one student to the next. Obviously, these aren’t the only regions, but they might help you get a sense of what student life is like in the UK. Your experience is determined by the university you attend, the region of the UK in which it is located, and what you do with it. Student life may be both thrilling and educational, and it is entirely up to you.
