Planet Education Networks (PEN Group) has acquired a majority stake in Dublin-based City Education Group, marking a strategic move to diversify its business and expand its global presence. This acquisition enhances PEN Group’s portfolio and aims to enrich educational offerings for both local and international students.

City Education Group, which serves around 7,000 students, encompasses several institutions, including City Colleges (higher education and training), Ashfield College (high school), City Language School (English language training), and Progressive College (higher and further education).

Philip Burke will continue as CEO of City Education Group, while Professor Cedric Bell from PEN Group will assume the chair of the board. Burke expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing a commitment to outstanding education and the new opportunities it will bring.

PEN Group’s statement highlighted that this acquisition is a crucial part of its strategic plan to establish a significant transnational education footprint in another English-speaking EU country.
