Visa appointment wait time would be ‘significantly’ longer, warns the US embassy.

According to the US Embassy, there will be long wait periods for appointments for different nonimmigrant visa categories in the next weeks and months.

Following the recovery from the Covid-19-related interruptions, the US Embassy has issued a warning that several nonimmigrant visa categories would have long appointment wait times.

Beginning on November 8, an estimated three million Indian visa holders will be eligible to travel to the United States with vaccination confirmation as part of the country’s new international air travel policy, according to the Indian Embassy.

“Our primary goal is to make legal travel as simple as possible to maintain our strong and growing bilateral ties. According to our projections, after recovering from the Covid-19-related disruptions, we expect large consultation wait times for various nonimmigrant visa categories at our Embassy and Consulates,” it was mentioned.

The mission expressed gratitude to candidates and staff for their patience as they worked to “expand our capacity while maintaining the safety of our applicants and employees.”

With only a few exceptions, foreign national air travelers visiting the US will be required to be immunized entirely against Covid-19 and produce documentation of vaccination status beginning November 8 before being allowed to board an airplane for a voyage to the US. The following is how the US Embassy described the immunization requirements:

Vaccinations are acceptable for entry into the United States, approved or authorized by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration), and vaccines awarded an emergency use listing by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The embassy stated that Covishield would be permitted admission into the United States because it lists it as an emergency treatment.
