Indian Students Continue to lead in Germany’s international students enrollment

 In News

Germany continues to attract a growing number of Indian students, with enrollments surging each year. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) reports that Indian students now represent the largest international community in Germany for the second consecutive year, with numbers having more than doubled over the past five years.

The latest data from the Federal Statistical Office indicates a 15.1% increase in the number of Indian students for the Winter Semester 2023-2024, bringing the total to 49,483. A significant portion, around 60%, are enrolled in engineering programs, while 21% study law, management, and social sciences, and 13% focus on maths and natural sciences.

Additionally, a recent legislative change allows international students from outside the EU to work up to 20 hours per week, effective March 1, 2024. This update applies not only to enrolled students but also to those who are in Germany to explore educational opportunities or attend language courses
